DAYTONA BEACH– The Hampton University women’s golf team finished in 10th place after two days of competition at the 2007 Bethune-Cookman Spring Invitational in Daytona Beach, Fla. at the Indigo Lakes Resort in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Hampton was led by sophomore Lauren Davis(Oviedo, Fla.), who finished the event tied 45th with The
Citadel’s Kasey Owens with a two-round total of 188 in two days of action.
The Lady Pirates had a combined score of 787 to finish in the 10th spot behind New York State-Albany who took ninth.
Daytona Beach CC won the tournament with a two-round total of 617. Host Bethune-Cookman College finished second with 627, Wofford College was third with 642, and Stetson University and Charleston Southern tied for fourth place to round out the top five with a score of 647.
Sophomore Christina Cheek (Bedford, Ohio) followed her opening round score of 97 with a second round score of 100 to finish tied for 50th place, second on the Hampton squad for the tournament.
Fellow sophomore Brittney Alford (Westerville, Ohio) finished in 52nd with a two round total of 199 followed by Aleasha Roberts (West Chester, Pa.) came in 56th with at two day total of 205
Sophomore Aisha Barnes (Schaumburg, Ill.) rounded out the HU five coming in 57th place with a score of 206.
The Lady Pirates will compete next when they head the 2007 Butler University North/South Spring Intercollegiate to be held March 12 and 13 in Jacksonville, Fla.
